AI disclosure guidance

For businesses using the WolfAI receptionist. Practical guidance, not legal advice.

Why this matters

Your WolfAI number is answered by an AI receptionist. Some states require businesses to disclose automated calls, and some regulate call recording. Being upfront also builds trust: callers who ask are always told honestly that they are talking to an automated assistant.

What the law may require

Rules vary by state and change over time - this list is not exhaustive and is not legal advice. Check the rules for your own state, and any state your customers call from:

WolfAI calls are transcribed to text so you can follow up. They are not audio-recorded, and no audio is stored.

How to add a disclosure

Set your greeting on your dashboard (the receptionist_greeting setting under Receptionist settings) to include a disclosure line, for example:

Thanks for calling Crown Cuts! I'm an automated assistant, and this call may be transcribed. How can I help?

Whatever greeting you set is spoken word-for-word at the start of every call.

Our recommendation

Include a disclosure line in your greeting. It costs one sentence and removes any doubt in stricter states - and callers still book just as often.
